A baby of about two years old who may have been used for rituals was yesterday found dead by a riverside in Bakassi LGA.
Our reporter who witnessed the scene where the baby was dumped say she could not take pictures because the sight was too gory.
According to her eyewitness report: “This morning, on my way to work in Calabar from Bakassi, the highway was unnecessarily busy as people climbed and descended the hill.
“I stopped by to know what exactly happened but was curiously drawn to the gory sight.
“To my surprise, there laid a baby about 2 years by the bank of the river with several items like fanta, rice clothing etc. I gathered that the baby was used for a sacrificial ritual.
“I later gathered that men of the Nigeria Police, as at noon, had taken the baby to an unknown location for burial.”
When CrossRiverWatch contacted the Police, the State spokesman, Mr. Hogan Bassey, simply said that they are investigating the matter.
