The Members Of the State Working Committee of the Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), have congratulated one of Cross River State’s finest sons, Mr. Agba Jalingo.
Speaking in Calabar, the Director General of CRISPON, Prince Michael Nku Abuo, described Mr. Agba Jalingo as a blessing to Cross River State and Nigeria at large.
“Mr. Jalingo, is a blessing to Cross River State. He has been able to proliferate information to all quarters in the State with the Emergence of his CrossRiverWatch Magazine.
“Today, our People across the globe now get information that concern the State timely and are not left in the dark and his professionalism in the journalism world has earned him many awards.”
Mr. Abuo added that the emergence of CrossRiverWatch has given birth to so many other media outlets today which have aided the State so much in terms of information dissemination and creating a synergy between the people of the State and the government.
“Before 2012, the State was in darkness, the People of the State had a gap with government. But when Mr. Jalingo, came on board he changed the system entirely. At least we have seen with our own eyes that the Cross River State of five years ago in terms of information sharing is not the Cross River State of today. His medium has given birth to other media houses such as Yakurr Reporters, calitown.com, paradisevoice.com, mycrossriver.com, undergroundwatch Magazine and many more. It shows he is a blessing to our State. He is a man we should all emulate.”
The Treasurer of the group, Ms. Didi Eta, described Mr. Agba Jalingo as a great man who has come to open the eyes of the people of Cross River State.
She further said that Cross River State needs men like Mr. Jalingo to venture into the game of politics.
“Mr. Jalingo, has shown our people the light. He has set a road map for development for our people in the State. It is men like Jalingo we need to venture into politics. I know he will perform exceptionally well if he ventures into politics and I urge our people to emulate this great man by thinking of our people first before personal gains”.
In his reaction, Mr. Agba Jalingo who turned 36 years on January 2nd said: “I appreciate CRISPON for the birthday message and wish to restate my commitment to ensuring that our state gets a free and courageous press that will drive the democratic and development process in the state.
“Joining politics now will be another missed opportunity for our dear state. I will just get sucked in and that will be it. I presently do not nurse any desire whatsoever to enter into government or politics. My eyes are fixated on strengthening the work we are doing and ensuring our terrestrial radio and TV stations begin very quickly and continue to use that to open up space for more citizens to participate in the process. That is my immediate priority. In the future, I will consider playing politics, but the space would have been substantially liberated by then.”
