Over the weekend in Calabar, the Cross River State capital an armed robber and a police officer were killed with another police man seriously injured by several gun shots in a gun battle between the police and the robbery gang.

This was made known to journalists at a briefing in Calabar by the Nigeria Police Force Cross River State Command Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Mr. Hogan Bassey.

He disclosed that the incident occurred at 8 Miles, Calabar at about 11:30pm on Saturday, February 27th 2015 adding that the police officer killed by the gang is Corporal Leonard Idem while the other officer, Corporal Sunday Joseph who was shot severally by the gang is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

While commending the public once again for providing relevant information to the police, Hogan revealed that an Audi vehicle with plate number XA 904 NDN which was recovered from the robbers is a registered cab with Jofino Transport Company, Eta Agbor with registration number JF – 0033/2014/14.
