In a bid to boost its manpower needs required for the construction of new cities in the three senatorial districts, the Cross River State Government is sponsoring 60 of its citizens for specialized training at the Construction and Fabrication Academy, otherwise known as Builders School in Abu-Dhabi.
Disclosing this in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, the state governor, Professor Ben Ayade directed that the process of selecting the 60 beneficiaries be open and transparent.
The training, according to the statement, is expected to focus on construction management, road construction, highway survey, masonry, glazing, quality control, landscaping.
Other areas of specialization, according to the statement include plumbing, electrical, tiling, bridge construction, wielding as well as POP.
He therefore, tasked the would-be beneficiaries to take full advantage of the Abu Dhabi training in order to equip themselves ahead of the construction revolution about to take hold in the state.
Governor Ayade noted that of particular interest to his administration, is the need for capacity building of citizens for the advancement of the state’s economy.
His words: “As we embark on the crucial journey of turning the economy of our state around, we cannot afford to ignore one of the critical elements, which is capacity, needed to achieve our developmental objectives. We want to build our own Dubai with our own hands.”
