Ahead of Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary, Cross River Governor, Benedict Ayade inspected the facilities put in place for the celebration at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
Ayade whose arrival was preceded by that of the resident Police Commissioner, Henry Fadairo, arrived the stadium at about 5:30 pm and spoke with the CP for a few minutes before returning to his office which is less than a minute drive away at about 5:46 pm.
His visit saw those in charge of decorations pause for a while to stare at him leaving only the painter who went ahead with his business.
The event is billed for 9:00am tomorrow with some local government chairmen on the neck of their Press Secretaries to get copies of the governor’s speech ahead of the kick off.
The governor’s Independence address is expected to review his first three months in office, reassure the population of his determination to see through his signature projects and alley the fears instigated by the President’s botched visit to the state.
