Three Robbers Arrested With Pistols In Obudu (Updated)

Two of the suspected robbers arrested with locally made pistols in Obudu

Three armed men nabbed by security operatives in Obudu local government area over alleged robbery earlier this week have been transferred to the state headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Calabar.

Sources reveal that the three were part of a four man gang, two from Obudu and two from Benue state and were nabbed in the early hours of Monday, August 31, 2015 while attempting a robbery operation with one of the suspect of Benue origin escaping.

The gang CrossRiverWatch gathered was also caught with two foreign made pistols and one pump action gun with.

According to sources, the modus operandi of the gang was to hide their weapons under heaps in farms in the morning after operations and return at night to pick them up alongside their clothes and that was how they continuously terrorized the town until nemesis caught up with them on Monday.

The two suspects of Obudu origin simply known as Ashiwo, a.k.a Umaga and Inimye a.k.a IG Brown, CrossRiverWatch also gathered from reliable sources were banished from their family home located along Ukwel-Obudu road earlier this year over stealing, robbery and cultism related activities which led to the death of their brother popularly known as Skilo.

The Special Adviser on Peace and Security to the Obudu Council Chairman, Chief Patrick Agogo popularly known as Spokesman confirmed the arrests adding that the three have since been moved to Calabar and the matter referred to the Anti Robbery Squad.
