Dr. Mike Anake Ushie has been confirmed by the Cross River State House of Assembly as the new Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC.
Dr. Ushie’s confirmation came along with that of all other 6 nominees that were sent to the House by the state governor, Senator Benedict Ayade.
After what members of the House described as a ‘careful and detailed screening of the nominees for the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission by the Cross River State House of Assembly’, seven nominees were granted confirmation for formal appointment as members of CROSIEC.
The new Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike Anake Ushie is from Obanliku LGA while other members include, Mr. Matthew Ucheche, Member, also from Obanliku, Barrister Eddy Morphy Idom, Member from Ogoja, Barrister Joe Nandi, Member from Boki, Mr. Neji Abang, Member from Ikom, and Dr. Yakmeodoho Namowonso Yakmeodoho, Member from Odukpani.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo while admonishing the new members of the Commission, advised them to uphold equity, be firm and fair to all, and above all eschew partisanship.
The House of Assembly also in Tuesday plenary, confirmed Mr. Henry Asikong Eyong as Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Council.
