Declan Ogar Leads Cross River Youth Delegation To World Youth Summit In Colombo

Governor Ben Ayade’s aide on Youth Matters, Mr. Declan Ogar Genesis is leading a delegation of youths from Cross River State that has just arrived the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo for the World Youth Summit, 2016.

The delegation which is comprised of two other delegates from the new leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter is being sponsored to the world youth summit holding in Colombo, Sri Lanka by the Cross River State government.

This is the first time the state will be represented at the summit and Cross River is sponsoring 3 of the 5 man delegation representing Nigeria at the conference.

The Cross River Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Asu Okang who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in his office on the summit, echoed that the dominance of Cross River in the delegation representing Nigeria “is a confirmation of the massive youth empowerment going on in the state under the administration of the pragmatic and youths friendly governor, Senator Ben Ayade.”

He stated that the governor is committed to developing the leadership potentials of youths in the state which was one of the major reasons for sponsoring the youths to participate in the summit.

In his word: “a forum like this in the opinion of His Excellency governor Ben Ayade will help expose the youths to emerging trends in the world and align them to global practice in youths engagement. So it is important they are accorded opportunity to broaden their understanding and challenge them to look at the bigger picture in their endeavor. The governor is preparing our youths as leaders that would steer the state to greater height as you know very well this government is determined to uplift the fortune of Cross River youths so that they contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

“Another very important aspect of the summit for the state is that the Cross River delegation will visit the Sri Lanka garment factory which is one of the largest in the world. Sri Lanka is renowned for its expertise in garment production and 60 percent of the country’s economy is driven by garment production.”

The three man delegation representing the state at the conference include, Ndifon Victor Ogar, Ndiyo Ndiyo Nkpo and Idagu Declan Ogar.

The summit would provide a platform for Nigerian youths to meet youths from other countries and exchange ideas and thoughts on education and exploration.

In addition, it will also create an opportunity for the youths to network with themselves for future prospects.

The motto for this year summit is “Education and Exploration”, and over 5000 youths globally are expected to participate at the conference.
