Yala: Two teenage males were stripped naked midweek in Okuku for stealing pregnant goats CrossRiverWatch can authoritatively report.
The duo, one named ‘Canter’ who resides along Riverside, Imaje road and the other unnamed, CrossRiverWatch gathered were caught with two pregnant goats in their possession following the cry from a goat owner in Imaje road axis of Okuku that his goats were missing.
The duo were beaten, stripped naked with the goats tied around their necks and later handed over to the Okuku post of the Nigeria Police Force, Yala division while the goats were returned to the owner who was visibly delighted at the sight of his goats.
This incident, CrossRiverWatch gathered, precedes one two weeks earlier where two boys in their twenties were arrested by community members following complaints of missing goats in Imaje road and Ayeko axis of Okuku, a stone throw distance apart.
The boys were also beaten with kid goats hanging from their necks and later handed over to the Police in Okuku.
Recently, elders in Okuku have complained of the increase in petty thievery and stealing due to the surge in gangstarism as teenagers are lured into gangsta groups and later forced to steal to be able to pay their ‘dues’ imposed by their leaders, ‘S.O.B’ or ‘capon’.
The Elders have in several fora, called on parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards are engaged positively to prevent ill thoughts from creeping into their minds.
