The ministerial nominee from Cross River State, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba was on Monday screened by the Senate.
Mr. Agba, a former top gun at the state owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was drilled with questions relating to the oil sector where he proffered solutions to the issues of fuel subsidy, local content, crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism as well as regulation of the sector.
Also, he schooled the lawmakers on certain terms in the oil industry and was later asked to take a bow having answered most of the questions asked in a session that lasted about an hour.
Political watchers say Mr. Agba is expected to be the Minister for State petroleum where he will be deputizing the President, Muhammadu Buhari who had held the position of senior minister in the sector in his first term in office.
Agba’s nomination had come as a shock to many. However, analysts believe he will be a unifying figure for the sharply divided All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
Notable among those who accompanied him into the red chambers were factional guber candidate of the APC in the last general elections, Senator John Owan-Enoh; Representative Alex Egbonna of the Yakurr/Abi federal constituency and the National Vice Chairman, South – South of the party, Mr. Hilliard Eta.
