Family Court Convicts 3 For Rape In Calabar

Hon. Justice E. E. Ita of Calabar Family Court Judicial Division has convicted three for raping underage girls.

The rapists are 38 year old Effiom Edem Bassey who defiled a 5 year old girl, 27 year old Hassan Abdullahi raped a 12 year old child and Nicholas Edet who raped a minor.

Celebrating the win, the Principal Partner, Basic Rights Counsel, James Ibor, Esq. took to social media to say, “We would like to appreciate the Judiciary, the Cross River State Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Humanity and Social Welfare, the Commissioner of Police Cross River State Command, Blessing Egwu, Staff and Volunteers of Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) who also worked very hard to stabilize the survivors.”

The conviction was secured in Monday and Tuesday sitting, the convicts will receive their sentence on Thursday, 30th of September, 2021.
