The member who represented Calabar South, Bakassi, and Akpabuyo in the House of Representatives and seeking re-election under the PDP in the ongoing general election, Hon. Essien Ayi was arrested by the Police earlier today.
The Cross River State Command Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo confirmed the arrest to our newsroom.
She said he was picked up for questioning in connection to some of his boys. She said, “We got some information about his boys and we picked him up for questioning.”
Words on the street say he was leading and State apparatus was used to detain him to enable a preferred candidate to win, this the Police Spokesperson said “it has nothing to do with the Cross River State Government.”
