CrossRiverWatch Editor at Large, Mr. Charles Kalu last weekend, emerged as the new social and publicity secretary of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
Mr. Kalu among others emerged in the elections conducted as part of activities for this year’s NGE National Biennial Convention at Owerri, the Imo State capital.
He was announced the winner of the post by the Chairperson of the election committee, Maimuna Garba after polling 239 votes to defeat Mr. Ikpong Essien-Udom, who scored 80.
He will serve in the executive led by Eze Ababa of Vanguard Newspapers who clinched 250 votes to defeat Bolaji of Western Post, who scored 81 votes.
Iyobosa Uwugiaren of The Nation was re-elected as General Secretary with 290 votes. His rival, Lanre Yetade scored 40 votes.
Others elected include Hajia Husseina Bangshika as Deputy President; Umoru Ibrahim as Vice President, North; Dr. Kabir Alabo as Vice President, West and Mr. Sheddy Ozoene as Vice President, East.
Also, Mr. Gabriel Akinradewo emerged as Assistant Secretary General, while Mr. Steve Nwosu emerged as Treasurer.
Furthermore, elections were conducted for members of the Standing Committees. Those who emerged are;

Ms. Rose Moses

East:
Mr. Dom Isute
Mr. Max Egere
