Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) has held its last quarter foster care meeting for the year 2023, to evaluate its activities in fostering children.
Held at the BRCI office, 45A Emmanuel Edem Crescent, Federal Housing Estate, Calabar, the nonprofit-making organization reinstates commitment to support street children as well as fight against human rights abuse, especially about women and children in the State.
Co-founder of the Initiative, Mrs. Eseoghene Ibor, in her pep talk, welcomed participants and commended all foster parents for their love for vulnerable children and also pleaded that they should always be patient with the children and ignore whatever they say.
Sharing her journey into foster care, Mrs. Lydia Ina who is the Founder of Gapolunya Foundation narrated how she was spurred to begin fostering in 2009.
Lydia noted that fostering in Nigeria needs someone with a grateful heart to look after the vulnerable children and urged parents and foster carers to be happy with what God has given to them.
“Children are a gift from God. It could be your neighbor’s children. Help them and God will reward you. Don’t call them names, don’t treat them as slaves for you never know where help will come from.”
