The University of Calabar (UNICAL) on a suspension spree, has suspended the Vice President of the school’s Student Union Government, Agnes Chaidi of the Faculty of Management Sciences.
A letter of suspension signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe states that her suspension is a result of misconduct.
This is coming two days after the school management suspended all final-year students from the Department of Environmental Protection and Management, Microbiology, and Mass Communication for violating the institution’s directive on reckless driving, flying of colors, and wild celebrations after examinations.

The same day, one Anazodo Mary Chinasa, a student in the Department of Public Health, got her share of the suspension cake for threatening the life of an examination invigilator.
The SUG Vice President is said to have allowed her official vehicle to be used as part of the wild celebrations after examinations in violation of a subsisting ban on such acts.
“Your actions are tantamount to abuse of office and flagrant disregard to the policies of the university which you swore to uphold and obey. As an executive member of the Students Union Government of the University, one would have expected that you live by example. This, unfortunately, is the opposite as seen in your recent actions.”
Management said her actions are considered lawless and unacceptable and contravene the students’ code of conduct as stipulated in the Students’ Handbook, including several memos cautioning against such acts.
She has been directed to stay away from the campus unless when invited by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, mandated to investigate the matter and show reasons why she should continue to hold the office as Vice President of the SUG.

In a statement released by the Management, the new scheduled date for the screening is August 26, to August 31, 2024. Candidates are advised to log on to the university’s official portal, www.myunical.edu.ng starting from August 21, 2024. They should also reprint their slips to reflect the new examination dates.
All candidates are further advised to take note of the adjustment and ensure they follow the new schedule to avoid any inconvenience. For more information and updates, candidates can visit the university’s website or contact the admissions office.
