The Cross River State government says it has plans to develop new cities in the 18 local government areas across the state.

The governor, Benedict Ayade disclosed this when he received a team of investors from Ireland who according to him are specialists in housing especially low cost housing.

Ayade who argued that “There is no amount of value you can give to mankind that will be enough if he is dehumanized by lack of shelter, the investors will come in with their technology and set up a factory where low cost housing will be designed off site and the houses set up in less than a three days.”

Furthermore, he added that the houses will be in three categories to cater for the need and taste of the people which plays into the ambition to create a new city in each local government area of the state with the one to be located in the capital tagged ‘Calas Vegas’.

Ayade also tasked the investors to play with nature while constructing the houses.

The Chairman of the delegation of the investors, Affordable Building Concept International Limited, an Irish company based in Dublin, Desmond Cullinane earlier in his remarks said the meeting was in continuation of the one Ayade had with them in Ireland where he visited their systems and requested they come down to the state.

Cullinane expressed optimism that his company will achieve some measure of success in the state as they have two systems that he stressed were very affordable.

The investors were then taken on an inspection tour of one of the proposed sites which is located in the area facing the Calabar International Conference Center and the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort.
