An appeal has gone to the Federal Government to intervene on the boundary Crisis between Nta Obum community in odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River state and its neighbouring village in Akwa Ibom State.
Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Nkoyo Toyo made this appeal shortly after she presented relief materials worth millions of Naira to the Nta Obum Community.
The relief materials which were donated to the community by the National Commission for Refugees and other Displaced Persons were facilitated by the federal legislator.
Nkoyo said the appeal become necessary in other to bring back live to the ancient Nta Obum community which was invaded by the neighbouring Akwa Ibom Community in mid 2012, forcing many to abandon their homes.
She added that the federal government through the National Boundary Commission and other boundary demarcation agencies should find a lasting solution to the incessant attacks on the peaceful community in her constituency.
“Let me use this medium to appeal to the federal government and its agencies to please see to the plight of Nta Obum people due to the attack they suffer from their neighbours in Akwa Ibom. Nta Obum is a victim of catastrophe by their supposed neighbour who invaded their village with guns and machetes because of land boundary”. She stressed.
