The rainfall of goodwill that heralded the return of the Super Eagles from their victorious trip to the Afcon 2013 in South Africa saw yet another largesse handed down to the African Champions as they were hosted by the Cross River State Governor today in his office in Calabar.
The governor who commended the Super Eagles and the Coaching Crew for making Nigeria proud at the Continental football showpiece in South Africa allotted a plot of land each to all members of the victorious Afcon 2013 team and their coaching crew and a cheque of N25m for the team.
Responding on behalf of the team, Assistant Captain of the team, Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama said governor Imoke, Cross River State and the U.J. Esuene Stadium has always been there for the Super Eagles in most of their critical moments.
He said if you have a trusted ally like Governor Imoke, you have much more than the money and the plots of land. He expressed the gratitude of the team to the governor’s gesture and promised that the team will try their best to win their match against Kenya as a mark of appreciation to the people of the State and Nigeria in general.
The Eagles are presently training in Calabar for their World Cup qualifier against the Harambee Stars of Kenya billed for the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar tomorrow.
