The eighteen council chairmen in Cross River State on Tuesday ended a two day seminar organized for them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC.
The seminar which held on Monday and Tuesday at the EFCC office Abuja took the council chairmen through effective public procurement, anti corruption and effective financial management of public funds by external lecturers sourced by the two agencies in conjunction with internal officers of the agencies.
Mr. Mike Usibe, the Association of All Local Government Council ALGON, Chairman who is the chairman of Yala Local Government Council told CrossRiverWatch that the lectures were very useful and educative and that the seminar would greatly enhance the effectiveness of the chairmen and management staff of the council like the Head of Administration, HOLGA, Secretary of Council and the Accountant from falling fowl of the law on financial matters.
“The lectures were very rewarding and the lectures will greatly enhance our efficiency with regard to financial issues because the EFCC and ICPC are very particular about prudence in handling public funds” He said.
