Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator John Owan Enoh has launched the John Owan Enoh (JOE) Diabetes Foundation, to cater for the needs of those suffering the pangs of the silent killer.
The launching was part of activities to mark the 50th birthday anniversary of the Senator who is also the Chairman Senate Committee on Finance.
At the occasion, Senator John Owan Enoh emphasized the need for people living with Diabetes to have a place where they can get counselling and testing for diabetes and the imperative for provision of drugs to support sufferers. He said “majority of persons suffering from Diabetes are going through a lot that can only be understood by them alone.”
Activities to mark the birthday started on the eve of his birthday, June 3rd as he graced a football match organized by the Igbo league in Ikom. The match which was between the Etung Cocoa Giants and Agboaro Boys held at the two ends multinational high school football field with the Etung cocoa Giants taking the trophy after defeating Agboaro Boys of Ikom.
On the 4th of June, the small town of Ikom witnessed massive human and vehicular traffic as people thronged the birthday venue at Jorany hotels Ikom.
Notable personalities that graced the occasion were Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuayi of Enugu state, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state, former governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, Senator Gershom Bassey and a host of other Senators and Members of House of Representatives.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Senator’s former class mates, his former colleagues who are lecturers and his constituents were present to celebrate with their Senator.
The event ended on Sunday with a thanksgiving mass at his home town Agbokim Waterfalls.
Earlier, Senator Liyel Imoke, former Cross River Governor, said he was proud of Senator John Enoh’s work and humility.
He urged the Senator to continue to work hard and continue to be humble for God to see even if men failed to see.
