Some media aides of the Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade are presently not happy as a result of events that played out in a closed door parley with the governor yesterday.
A source who was at the meeting which was not open to journalists, told CrossRiverWatch that the meeting lasted for about an hour and no one was allowed to take pictures or make any recording.
The Correspondent for AIT and the Chairman of the Government House Press corps, Mr. Rasheed Olanrewaju was however admitted into the meeting.
A source at the meeting said, Governor Ayade while commending his media team also reiterated his earlier directive to them not to always respond to what everyone writes about him or the government in the media but to always concentrate on marketing the programs of the government.
The governor was said to have commended the AIT crew in particular for the work they are doing in the state and also singled out one of his media aides, Mr. Solomon Inok for special commendation for his persistent write ups in defense of the government on social media.
“Even when the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Linus Obogo told the governor of something he wanted to write, the governor asked him to take a cue from Solomon Inok of all people, can you imagine? Our source questioned.
Some of the media aides who spoke to CrossRiverWatch in confidence after the meeting expressed dismay that, of all people, “it is Solomon Inok that HE will single out for commendation with all the plagiarized articles he is publishing everyday.” one said.
One of the aides was more frontal’ “If Inok is the standard HE will ask anyone to follow, I want to assume either of two things, it is either he is not reading what Inok has been writing himself and consequently he is making this assessment from third party information he gets. But if he has been reading and he made this assessment after careful consideration, then his sense of excellence is warped and his taste is low.”
Governor Ayade has a total of 16 media aides spread across the print, electronic and new media.
