Doyen Bar Chairman, Barr. Attah Ochinke and his predecessor, Barr. Paul Ebiala, Mr. Peter Akpanke, and Hon. Bassey Ewa has won the PDP ticket to represent their constituents as legislators.
Ochinke, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during the Sen. Liyel Imoke’s administration polled 27 votes against two other aspirants who scored 21 and 18 votes respectively to emerge winner of the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency PDP candidate.
His learned colleague, Barr. Paul secured Yala 1 State Constituency with 6 votes.
His closest rivals are; Odey Paul got 5 votes, Odama Ogbeche 5, Michael Emaluji 1, Odey Vincent 1 and Charles Offoboche 0 vote.
Similarly, a former staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Peter Akpanke scooped the ticket for Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency. Akpanke garnered 46 votes to beat the other three aspirants.
The primary was however initially marred with violence in which two Policemen were shot, eight are in custody in relation to the violence.
The Central Senatorial District ticket was won by Hon. Bassey Ewa who polled a total of 102 votes to defeat former Commissioner of Education, Hon. Godwin Etta, who scored 94 votes.
In the Southern Senatorial District, Ntufam Ekpo Okon muscled 186 votes against Joe Edet who got 47 votes.
Meanwhile, Cross Riverians await who emerges as the governorship candidate for the PDP, the primary is scheduled for today, Wednesday 25 May 2022.
