A video obtained by CrossRiverWatch shows that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA is currently closed temporarily as an Aero Cally Boeing 737 300 skid off the taxiway with its nose gear buried in soft ground.

Aero Cally is the contraption coined to explain the deal between the Cross River State Government, which bought two Boeing 737s, and Nigeria’s oldest airline, Aero Contractors, which operates them with the “Cally” livery.

The aircraft in question is registered 5N-BYQ – a 24-year-old airframe with Manufacturer Serial Number, 30334 that was delivered in August 1999.

As per data from FlightRadar24, the aircraft performed flight N2119 from Lagos to Abuja.

It is currently stuck at the taxiway at the Airport, delaying other take-offs and landings, as NAIA has only one runway and its adjoining taxiway.

Amateur videos show efforts by Aerodrome staff to evacuate it to the apron.
