The Executive Director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Mr. Auwal Musa Rafsanjani has called on Cross River journalists to focus their search light on the state of implementation of the Africa Union (AU) instruments in Nigeria.

The CISLAC Executive Director represented by Austin Erameh, gave the charge during a media roundtable held in Calabar with journalists practicing in the State.

Speaking on the essence of the event, he said it is to galvanize civil society participation and support in ensuring that they can begin to hold African governments accountable to the African Union instruments that they have signed on to.

Furthermore, he averred that the event was also fuel by the realization that some government officials after signing these agreements, find it had to implement them as expected.

According to him the project commenced since 2012. He disclosed that they are 49 AU instruments that have been signed on to by member countries but the CSOs are constrained by resources and will focus their advocacy on 14 of them, (10 Legal Instruments and 4 Policy Standard and Action Plan).
