I Have Not Been Contacted – Odey Oyama Denies Governor Ayade’s Appointment

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Cross River State, Mr. Odey Oyama, has denied news of him been appointed as the Chairman, Anti-Deforestation Task Force by Governor Ben Ayade.

In a short telephone interview with CrossRiverWatch reporter, Mr. Odey claim he is not aware of any appointment because he has not been contacted by the Government or by the Governor himself.

His words, “I have not been contacted by the Government, l’m not in the State, am on my way out of the country”.

Pressed if the news his appointment as the interim Chairman of Anti-Deforestation Task Force is false, saying “I wouldn’t say so because I haven’t been contacted by the Government or by the Governor himself; I’m out of the country”.

Earlier, a press statement by Mr. Christian Ita, Senior Speacial Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity read thus:

“The new interim Task Force has Dr. Odey Oyama as Chairman with the 18 Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) as members, the appointment takes effect immediately”.

The Governor warned that any HOLGA that allows illegally logged woods to pass through his or her Local Government Area, faces termination from the Local Government Service.
